LED Screen

Eucalyptus Oil

Eucalyptus Oil is a short commercial project created using LED screen technology to simulate an icy mountain environment entirely inside a studio. Rather than traveling to a real snowy location, the production used a large LED screen to create the background environment, allowing the team to reproduce the atmosphere of a freezing outdoor landscape within a controlled indoor setting.

The commercial centers on eucalyptus oil, or minyak kayu putih, a familiar product in Indonesia commonly associated with warmth and comfort. The story places the product in direct contrast with the cold environment, following a character facing freezing conditions and using eucalyptus oil to provide a warming sensation.

For Markus, the project was also an opportunity to connect technological experimentation with something familiar from his Indonesian background. Across his creative practice, he often looks for ways to bring elements of where he comes from into the work he creates, and this project allowed an everyday Indonesian product to become the center of an experiment with LED-based filmmaking.

Markus served as the Screenwriter, Director, and Editor, developing the concept and narrative, directing the production, and shaping the final commercial through post-production. The project expanded his experience with studio-based filmmaking and demonstrated how LED screen technology can be used to create environments that would otherwise require more complex location production.
